Catching up
Bull riders in the PBR elite series tour are coming off an electric event in Indianapolis, IN last weekend. Guts and glory were on display in Indy, along with plenty of thrills and spills.
Alvidrez wins Indianapolis
Andrew Alvidrez won his first event since December 2022, after Alvidrez went 3-for-3 at last weekend in Gainbridge Fieldhouse to win the aggregate in Indianapolis.
“It’s been two years since my last win,” Alvidrez said. “This sport is crazy, like life. One moment you’re on top of the world, the next, you’re grinding it out in the trenches. The person who gets all the glory is my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This is my life. I’m trying to be better every day in my life as a man and being a cowboy.”
Alvidrez sealed the deal with 92.5 points on Gene Owen’s Nobody in the short round, marking the highest scored ride of the weekend. With the win in Indy, Alvidrez jumped from 21st place in the PBR world standings to no. 7.
The event win in Indy netted 113 points in the Unleash the Beast standings, and he earned $46,863 in prize money over three rounds.
Alvidrez first rode Blake Sharp’s The Player during a Team Challenge on Friday night in Indianapolis. The score of 87.5 pushed the Missouri Thunder past the Kansas City Outlaws, with the Thunder winning by a final score of 348.75-169.
Scores from the Team Challenge showcase counted as an individual ride in the first round of the Indy event. Alvidrez went on to make a qualified ride on Universal Pro Rodeo’s American You for 80 points in the second round.
While 80 points was the lowest score in the second round, Alvidrez would have the highest score of the whole weekend with 92.5 points in the short go.
More from Indy
Besides Alvidrez going 3-for-3 in Indianapolis, Koltin Hevalow also covered all three of his bulls. Finishing second place in the event standings, Hevalow earned $21,863 and 82 UTB points.
Many of the bull riders leading the event after the first round were bucked off in Round 2. Elizmar Jeremias was one of those bull riders, but he still had an impressive weekend nonetheless.
Jeremias won the first round in Indy with 8.75 points on Mike’s Motive (Blake Sharp). While he bucked off in the second round, Jeremias came back in the short go with a 90.75-point ride on Blake Sharp’s Hoobastank.
Jeremias earned $18,563 in prize money over the weekend and a third place finish in Indianapolis.
Boudreaux Campbell placed fourth in the event standings, rebounding from struggles early in the season. He showed no quit in Indianapolis.
With two great rides in Indy, Campbell earned $10,313 over the weekend. He split second place in the round and finished fourth in the overall event standings.
Kasel rises to no. 2 in world standings
Dalton Kasel is making moves in the Unleash the Beast standings, as he goes to second place in the world after Indianapolis.
While Kasel bucked off in the short round, Kasel rode both bulls he drew in the long rounds. One of those rides includes 89 points on Universal Pro Rodeo’s Nightmare.
Meanwhile, Brady Fielder maintains his lead in the world standings with 590 UTB points. Kasel is closing in on Fielder, as Fielder leads the standings by 105 UTB points ahead of Kasel.
John Crimber falls to fourth place in the UTB standings with no qualified rides in Indy. Luciano De Castro is in third place ahead of Crimber.
