A sports columnist from The Post and Courier chronicles a stop on the PBR Velocity Tour in Charleston, SC. With quotes from bull riders and spectators, the writer also goes into detail on the production itself. “Imagine if professional wrestling and NASCAR had a baby — that’ll give you a good idea of a PBR event,” writes Scott Hamiltion.
Bozeman Daily Chronicle: Montana State Rodeo Team set to ride in the Inaugural Parade next Monday in Washington, D.C.
ABC/Fox affiliate KTMF (Channel 23 in Missoula, MT) also covers the MSU team taking part in the parade. While KTVQ (Billings, MT) offers their version of the story. MSU released their own press release on the rodeo team.
The blog Denverite has an in-depth look at the National Western Stock Show, with quotes from contestants and spokespersons ahead of the upcoming event in Denver. The article also features lots of great photography.
Colorado Public Radio (via their CPR News website) has photos from opening weekend at the National Western Stock Show.
Learfield, a media and technology company focused on college sports, announced via a press release they are partnering with the rodeo team at UNLV (whose campus also happens to host the NFR at the Thomas & Mack Center in an unrelated note).

Springfield News-Leader features a look at the Missouri Thunder. The PBR team, which is owned by Bass Pro Shops, has tickets going on sale next week for their team event in August.
ABC affiliate KTRK-TV in Houston looks at an industrial competition at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. Students compete using skills in vocational trades. Students are given access to tools, mentors and industry professionals. Likewise, there is a related job fair next Thursday.
New York Post for some reason covered the recently announced music lineup for RodeoHouston, but the sheer amount of pop-up ads on the site make posting a link to the article hardly worth it.
NBC affiliate KPRC in Houston also covers the RodeoHouston lineup, which is a little closer to home than the Post. Same for Fox affiliate KRIV, with their own plug for rodeo tickets, along with PBS affiliate Houston Public Media, and ABC affiliate KSAT.
KLTV (Tyler/Longview) highlights East Texas native Lightning Aguilera winning the average in the team roping at the Sandhills Stock Show in Odessa.
MySA (San Antonio) profiles a fancy “rodeo-themed bar” at a local luxury hotel.
The Roanoke Times (Virginia) previews the Salem Stampede Championship Rodeo set for this Saturday. The article is behind a paywall, but nevertheless, the link is here. You can basically read the article for a buck, just do not forget to cancel the $1 trial subscription.
