Roughstock contestants at the top of their game also rode a string of strong bucking horses for scores of 90-plus points.

Timed Events

Josie Conner was first out in breakaway roping, and set such a high standard no other roper could best her time. Conner roped her calf and the flag dropped at 1.8 seconds. That fast time ended up a full second ahead of second place.

Riding her horse “Dutch” (Stylish Drifter), Conner won the rodeo in Fort Worth for the first time. Previously, she had never advanced from her bracket at FWSSR. A year later she is champion.

Conner was one of only three breakaway ropers without a “no time” in the short round. While Connor won her first FWSSR title, another roper repeated as champion.

Shad Mayfield won his second consecutive tie-down roping crown in Fort Worth. Mayfield roped and tied in 7.6 seconds, which was a tenth of second ahead of Kyle Lucas in second place. Riley Webb was in the hunt at 7.9 seconds for third place.
