The short round is set at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo after the conclusion of Semifinal “B” in Dickies Arena.
Excitement over the action in the rodeo on Friday night was also met with a scary accident in chuckwagon racing.
Although chuckwagon racing is not sanctioned by the PRCA, the association issued a statement with an update on the incident in Fort Worth.
According to the statement, driver Reed Rosencrans was injured in the wreck. An on-site physician with Justin Sports Medicine said Rosencrans was alert, and he was transported to a hospital for further testing.
A horse also went down in the accident. The PRCA statement indicated veterinarians examined the horse, and the horse did not suffer any serious injuries. Live reports from the arena and the PRCA statement all indicate the horse should make a full recovery.
“We are grateful for the professional response of our medical and veterinary teams, and we send our thoughts and best wishes to Reed and his family,” PRCA said in the statement.
Barrel Racing
Emily Beisel and her horse Liza (Ivory on Fire) won the round in barrel racing on the bottom of the ground. Beisel and her horse wowed the crowd in Fort Worth with a fast time of 16.23 seconds.
Beisel in her winner’s circle interview on the telecast thanked the ground crew for dragging the arena halfway through the barrel race, as she gave some credit to that for her winning as last out. Should be noted she also has a fantastic horse.
Beisel and Liza won both go-rounds in their bracket earlier in the tournament, along with winning the semifinal round on Friday. Beisel earns $4,000 in day money with the round win.
Timed Events
Team ropers Clay Smith and Coleby Payne won the semifinal round with a 3.8-second run, repeating the same winning time that won them the wildcard round a few days ago.

Smith and Payne also look to repeat as team roping champions at the Fort Worth Stock Show. They are the reigning champions after winning the title last year. They go into the short round with a chance to repeat.
In another other roping event, Kyle Lucas captured the semifinal round in tie-down roping. Lucas roped and tied in 7.8 seconds to win the go-round and $4,000. Lucas was riding famed buckskin “Peso”(Daddys Shiner Cat).
Josie Conner in previous years never made it past her bracket, but this year she headed to the short go. Conner and her horse “Dutch” (Stylish Drifter) won the semifinal round with a time of 2.4 seconds.
Steer wrestler Eli Lord won the semifinal round after bulldogging a steer in 4.2 seconds. Lord drew the same steer he bulldogged in an earlier bracket, and Lord took advantage to win the semifinal round on Friday.
Roughstock
T Parker goes 90 with Sutton Rodeo’s One Chance, and Parker wins the semifinal round with his chance in bull riding. Parker was one of three bull riders to cover their bulls. He earns about $4,333 for the 90-point ride, some of which includes ground money.
While Parker was 90 points in bull riding, Jacek Frost was close to that score in bareback riding. Frost won the semifinal round of bareback riding with an 89.5-point ride on J Bar J’s Hyna. Good for $4,000 and a berth in the short go.
Tying for first place in saddle bronc riding, Zac Dallas and Gus Gaillard split a win in the semifinal round. Both scored 85 points to earn them roughly $3,500 each in the roughstock event.
Dalls rode Sankey Pro Rodeo & Phenom Genetics’ Pendleton Roundup’s Marquee, while Gaillard was aboard J Bar J’s Hell on Hooves.
