A semifinal round on Thursday night determined finalists from the pro rodeo tournament at the Fort Wort Stock Show in Dickies Arena.
Contestants that placed in the top four of their event now advance to the finals on Saturday night.
Several events in Semifinal “A” had several ties, where contestants split a place in the go-round. A three-way tie in the breakaway roping for first place in the round.
Timed Events
Kinlie Brennise, TiAda Gray and Joey Williams all split first place in the round of breakaway. Besides all earning about $3,000 each in day money, all three ropers also advance to the final round. Also advancing in breakaway roping is Hope Thompson.
Bulldoggers also split first place in the round of steer wrestling, with Don Payne and Mike McGinn bulldogging their steers in 3.6 seconds. They each won about $3,500, and they qualify for the short round on Saturday.
Only a tenth of a second behind the tie for first was Stetson Jorgensen at 3.7 for $2,000. Jorgensen advances along with Ty Erickson.
Shad Mayfield won the go-round in tie-down roping with an 8.4-second run good for $4,000. Brushton Minton was four tenths away with an 8.8 for second place.
Mayfield and Minton qualify for the short go. As does Ty Harris and Michael Otero, who both had solid runs on Thursday night.
Cyle Denison & Lane Mitchell captured first place in the round of team roping, with a time of 4.6 seconds for $4,500 each.
Tanner Tomlinson & Travis Graves placed second in team roping. They move on to the short round, as do the teams of Clint Summers & Paul Eaves and Cody Carter & Blake Bentley.
Roughstock
Zeke Thurston proved yet again his skills as a bronc rider, with a ride that looked smooth as a Sunday stroll on a saddle horse. Thurston’s score of 88 points put him in first place for $4,000.
Kade Bruno was one point behind at 87 points, good for second place in saddle bronc riding. Statler Wright with 86 points in third place, and Clash Wilson rounded out fourth place to advance in the tournament.
Jacob Lee in an impressive ride on J Bar J’s All Pink scored 88.5 points, winning the round in bareback riding.
Weston Timberman and Mason Clements tied for second place in bareback, both with 87-point rides. Bradley Miller also qualified for the short go on Saturday.
Three bull riders covered their bulls. Bryce Jensen placed first in the round with 86.5 points on Rafter G Rodeo’s Swanky. Jensen earned roughly $4,333, which includes ground money.
Maverick Potter was 86 points for second place in bull riding. Jestyn Woodward also covered his bull to place third in the round.
Barrels
First and second place were a hundredth of a second apart. Third placed was mere hundredths of the second as well.
Andrea Busby and her red roan mare named Derby stopped the clock at 16.20 seconds to take first place, worth about $4,000 in day money and a spot in the finals.

In second place is Carlee Otero with a 16.21-second run for $3,000. She qualifies alongside her husband, who qualified for the short go in tie-down roping.
Also qualifying for the Saturday finale were Toria Madsen (16.28 seconds) and Leslie Smalygo (16.41).
