Horse power wins at FWSSR Timed Event Challenge & Invitational Breakaway

In conjunction with their horse shows, Fort Wort Stock Show & Rodeo hosted standalone tie-down, team roping and breakaway competitions.

FWSSR capped off their horse show classes with the Timed Event Challenge, along with an Invitational Women’s Breakaway.

Some of the best breakaway ropers and horses in the country competed in a women’s invitational roping, along with the tie-down and team roping competitions held at the John Justin Arena.

The tie-down roping was open to anyone that entered the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) horse show in the tie-down class. In addition, the top five amateurs came back for a “Fast Five” shootout separate from the short round of the Timed Event Challenge itself.

The Timed Event Challenge of team roping was much the same, except entries in the Challenge were also open to the American Paint Horse Association (APHA), along with the AQHA.

The invitational women’s breakaway roping featured 55 entries, and the top 10 came back for a short go after the long round. The short round was a clean slate, meaning the fastest time in that round won the roping.

Shelby Meged won the breakaway roping, and a horse she owned also placed in the Timed Event Challenge. Maddy Deerman posted the fastest time in the breakaway roping with a 2.21-second run.
