Who advances after Bracket 1 in Fort Worth?

Two contestants in each event earn a berth into the semifinal round, and others contestants find themselves in the wild card race.

Advancing to semifinal

  • Bareback Riding: Weston Timberman and Cole Franks
  • Steer Wresting: Ty Erickson and Sam Goings
  • Breakaway Roping: Hope Thompson and Lari Dee Guy
  • Saddle Bronc Riding: Kade Bruno and Ben Anderson
  • Tie-down Roping: Shad Mayfield and Kincade Henry
  • Barrel Racing:  LaTricia Duke and Sissy Winn
  • Team Roping: Cyle Denison/Lane Mitchell and Brady Tryan/Calgary Smith
  • Bull Riding: Maverick Potte and Roscoe Jarboe

Tie-down Roping

Shad Mayfield clinched a spot in the semifinals after winning both rounds of his bracket. Mayfield set an arena record with 7.2 seconds in Round 1 to win $2,300.

Mayfield went on to split first place in Round 2 with Kincade Henry. They each earned $2,050 for splitting the win in Round 2.

Mayfield and Henry both now advance to a semifinal round based on their total earnings, while Glenn Jackson qualifies for the wild card.

Bareback Riding

Weston Timberman and Cole Franks placed first and second in the bracket and the first round, and they split second in another round.

Timberman was 84.5 points on Brookman Rodeo’s SOS to win Round 1 for $2,300. Second place in Round 1, Franks was only a half-point behind Timberman for $1,800.

Timberman and Franks then split second place in Round 2, earning each $1,600 more. Timberman was the top earning bareback rider in Round 1, with Franks $500 behind him. Both qualify for the semifinals.

Reigning World Dean Thompson won Round 2 with 88 points on Korkow Rodeo’s Tator Tot for $2,300. Thompson had placed seventh in Round 1 for an extra $125, giving Thompson enough in total earnings for a spot in the wild card.

Steer Wrestling

Ty Erickson won the round in steer wrestling both nights he backed in the box. Erickson actually split first place in Round 1 with Sam Goings. Both bulldogged their steers in 3.8 second for the fastest time in Round 1. Erickson went on to win Round 2 with a 3.7-second run.

Erickson and Goings advance to the semifinals, while Jace Melvin earns a wild card berth.

Saddle Bronc Riding

Kade Bruno with back-to-back round wins earns plenty of money to qualify for the semifinals. Bruno with a 87.5 ride both nights. He rode Brookman Rodeo’s Ragin’ Lunatic to win Round 1, and Brun then a partnered with Brookman Rodeo’s Apollo to win Round 2.

Ben Anderson placed in both go-rounds, earning him enough to qualify for the semifinals alongside Bruno. Traylin Martin also placed in each round, and in doing so gets into the wild card.

Breakaway Roping

Hope Thompson and Lari Dee Guy are moving on to the semifinals. Thompson was the high money earner in her bracket, with $4,100 in total.

Thompson placed second in Round 1 behind Kinlie Brennise in first place, while Lari Dee placed third. Thompson went on to win Round 2, and Lari Dee placed second.

Brennise with a round win earns enough for a spot in the wild card.

Barrel Racing

Sissy Winn and LaTricia Duke advance after placing in both rounds of barrel racing. Duke won Round 1 with a time of 16.40 seconds, while Winn placed second in both rounds. Duke placed sixth in Round 2.

Toria Madsen won Round 2 with 16.46. Along with sixth place in Round 1, Madsen earns enough for the wild card.

Team Roping

Cyle Denison and Lane Mitchell won $3,350 each as the high money earners in Bracket 1 of team roping. Brady Tryan and Calgary Smith were close behind with $3,200 each in earnings after two rounds.

Clay Smith and Coleby Payne won Round 2, which earned them enough for the wild card.

Bull Riding

Maverick Potter was the only one in Bracket 1 to cover both of his bulls, winning $7,000 to become the highest earner in Bracket 1.

Potter was 78 points on Sutton Rodeo’s Dr. Strange to win Round 1. Blaine Beaty had the only other qualified ride in Round 1 of bull riding, earning him enough for the wild card.

Roscoe Jarboe won Round 2 with 84.5 points on Sutton Rodeo’s Crystal X. The go-round win earn Jarboe a spot in the semifinals alongside Potter.
