PBR crowns Last Cowboy Standing at FWSSR

Professional Bull Riders held a two-night stand at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo to determine the PBR’s Last Cowboy Standing.

Leandro Zampollo won the Velocity Tour event to take the title of Last Cowboy Standing. Zampollo takes home over $60,000 in total earnings after two nights of competition in Dickies Arena.

Daniel Keeping split first place in Round 1 with Rogerio Venancio on Tuesday night. Although Keeping bucked off in Round 2 on Wednesday, he rode his bull in Round 3.

Zampollo bucked off in Round 3, and his aggregate score was actually less than Keeping’s total score going into Round 4. However, Keeping did not advance because of an injury.

Keeping placed third in Round 3, but he suffered what appeared to be a leg injury. Keeping was only able to receive a score after an official review in a close call. Keeping’s injury allowed Zampollo to advance into Round 4.

No one covered a bull in the fourth go-round, but Zampollo was the only rider to cover his bull in the short-go.

The format of Last Cowboy Standing started with 40 bull riders on Tuesday night. Zampollo partnered with Lieutenant Dan for a 82.75 in Round 1, which was good for 13th place.

Zampollo advanced to the next round of 25 riders, where Zampollo rode Stryker for 84.75 and a three-way tie for second place in Round 2. Down Payment bucked off Zampollo in Round 3, but Zampollo still moved on as one of the final four.

Zampollo bucked off Snap Chatter in Round 4, and the other three contestants also did not cover their bulls. All four contestants moved into Round 5, where Zampollo was the only one of the four to cover his bull.

Zampollo rode Bamboozle in the short-go for a 86-point score. Along with the top prize of $50,000, Zampollo earned a total of $61,695 over the two nights. He jumps from No. 60 in the PBR Unleash the Beast world standings to No. 26.

With the win in Fort Worth, Zampollo now claims the top spot of the Velocity Tour standings with 253.50 total points. That is 2.5 points ahead of Ky Hamilton in the Velocity standings.

Daniel Keeping covered Rock ‘n Roll for a 86.75-point in Round 1 to split the win in the go-round with Rogerio Venancio, who rode Walk Hard for 86.75.

Ezekiel “Blue” Mitchell topped Round 2 with a score of 85 aboard Rowdy. Veteran Kaique Pacheco had the best ride of Round 3 with 87 on Sucker Pop.

The festivities not only included bull riding, but other activities related to FWSSR like the calf scramble about three quarters of the way through the event.

The production mashed together the presentation of a PBR event with the traditional rodeo setting of FWSSR. That along with the format made for a unique tour stop for PBR.

The PBR crew in the arena, from the chute help to the safety (pick-up) man, all wore the traditional white shirts and red bandannas, much like their counterparts from the rodeo performances of FWSSR.

The two nights of PBR came after the FWSSR ranch rodeo on Saturday, a Mexican rodeo presentation on Sunday, and the Cowboys of Color rodeo on Monday night.
